How to Amuse a Child while You’re Busy

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

In the “why didn’t I think of that” catagory of child care comes this interesting tip from the February 1907 issue of the Ladies Home Journal–

An easy way to amuse a child when the mother is doing housework, alone, is to let him cut out pictures from papers, dip them in clear water, and apply them to the painted wall of the kitchen. This will afford a child infinite satisfaction, and keep him employed while his mother is busy. No harm will be done the wall, for by the time he is tired of his play the pictures will have begun to curl up and drop off.

I was over a friends house and we were working on our scrapbooks, and she was having fish for dinner that night. So when I left I put all my pictures in a bag and took my scrapbook home. When I went to work on it more later, I opened the bag and it stunk of fish.

I tryed spraying febreeze, perfume, and even body spray but it doesn’t seem to be working that well.

Cleaning Your Sewing Machine

You do have a sewing machine, don’t you?

Craft Nectar has posted a SUPER Spring (or anytime) cleaning tutorial for your sewing machine. They did their research, and have a LOT of pictures. For one thing, I didn’t know machine oil came in different types (I’m happy if I can get the right stuff in my CAR for gosh sakes). Craft Nectar covers that and more. Like Don’t Use Compressed Air! (Fortunately, I read this first!)
